Sarah Whitten has performed in the New England area in leading roles with Cape Cod Opera, Intermezzo Opera, The Bell Center and Boston Vocal Artists. Her opera credits include Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Micaela in Carmen, Girl in Trouble in Tahiti andFirst Knitter in Seymour Barab's Game of Chance as well as others. In addition to opera performances Ms. Whitten is a frequent soloist, appearing around the New England area in art song recitals and concerts. Most recently she gave a fundraiser recital for Casa Myrna Vazquez, with a program of all Spanish and American composers. She was a soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Harvard-Radcliffe Chorus. Other performances include Educational Outreach concerts with Cape Cod Opera, as well as the Brookline Music School Faculty recital series 2003-2005. In March of 2004 she made her film debut in the role of Diva Soprano in the film, Poet.

            Ms. Whitten holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and a Master of Arts in Vocal Pedagogy, both from Ohio State University. She completed additional studies in voice at Chautauqua Institution Summer Voice Program, Oberlin in Italy Program and OperaFest Boston. Currently, she teaches voice in the Harvard University Holden Voice Program. Previously she taught at Brookline Music School where she also served as co-chair of the voice department. A founding subscriber of Boston Singers Resource, she writes and edits the Vocal Health pages of the website. She has received Level One certification in the Somatic VoiceWork Ò The LoVetri Method for teaching Contemporary Commercial Music. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and currently serves as Program Chair on the Boston NATS board.
