Margaret Felice

Margaret Felice has been praised for her dynamic stage presence, artistic versatility, and “drop-dead gorgeous voice” (Boston Musical Intelligencer). Her repertoire ranges from classical opera to modern musical theater, from early music to the Great American Songbook, but all of her performances have one thing in common: a commitment to entertaining her audience with musical integrity and creative presentation.

In recent seasons Margaret performed with Piccola Opera of Concord, NH in the role of Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica, with Longwood Opera as The Sandman in Hansel and Gretel, and with Opera New Hampshire as Frasquita in Carmen. She sang the soprano solos in Bach's Cantata 39 with Christ Church United Methodist in Wellesley, MA. She also sang the role of Jenny in Companywith Weston Friendly Society and made her debut with NextDoor Theatre in The Light in the Piazza as the Tour Guide.

In 2015 Margaret worked extensively in musical theatre. Notable appearances were with Greater Lowell Music Theatre (Marie, Fiorello!; Panacea, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum), and Woodland Theatre Company (Alice Bean, Titanic).

During the 2013-2014 season Margaret sang the role of Countess Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro in her second appearance with the Assisi Performing Arts Festival. While at the festival, she was soprano soloist in a rarely-performed Hindemith chamber cantata: Die Serenaden for soprano, oboe, viola and cello. She was a soloist in Rodgers & Hammerstein revues with Greater Lowell Music Theatre in Lowell, MA, and with Bordentown Community Concerts in Bordentown, NJ. As part of the Boston College Arts Festival she sang with the University Wind Ensemble on a program of John Philip Sousa compositions and arrangements. On the musical theatre stage she joined Curtain Call Theatre in Braintree, MA as Rona Lisa Peretti in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Margaret’s 2012-2013 engagements included multiple appearances as an oratorio soloist: Mozart’s Sparrow Mass at Manhattan’s Church of the Holy Family, and the Vivaldi Gloria and Fauré Requiem with the Paul Madore Chorale Summer Sings in Salem, MA. She also made her debut with the Assisi Performing Arts Festival as Pamina in The Magic Flute, and with Woodland Theatre Company as Sister Berthe in The Sound of Music. As part of an educational outreach program Margaret worked with West Haven Child Development Center on the straight play The Hundred Dresses, playing the roles of Miss Mason and Shelly.

A fixture on the New England performing scene for more than a decade, Margaret’s list of memorable roles is extensive. With Boston Opera Collaborative she sang the roles of Abigail Williams in The Crucible and Micaëla in Carmen, among others. She has performed in light opera and musical theater with Reagle Music Theatre (Oklahoma!, The Sound of Music) and Norway Pond Festival Singers (Angelina in Trial by Jury).

An artist with a particular interest in sacred music, Margaret shines in oratorio and early music performances. Credits include solo performances in Haydn’s Creation, Beethoven’s Mass in C, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, and Carmina Burana. She also sang for five seasons with Cappella Clausura, a chamber ensemble specializing in early music written by female composers.

As a member of Tanglewood Festival Chorus, the official chorus of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops, she has sung symphonic masterworks at Tanglewood, Carnegie Hall and Boston’s Symphony Hall. With the Pops she has sung for Fourth of July, Red Sox opening day, the Democratic National Convention and Boston’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting.

Originally from South Windsor, Connecticut, Margaret now lives in Boston and southwestern Connecticut. She holds degrees from Boston College and The Boston Conservatory and is an active choral conductor. She has been Executive Director of Boston Singers' Resource since 2015 and a member since its founding.
