Lyric soprano, Melynda Davis continues to gain attention for her wonderful legato line and beautiful color. Melynda Davis was a cantor at OLBS in Queens, NY for close to 6 years and has enjoyed being a section leader and cantor for various choirs in the Boston and New York area. Melynda is currently the soprano section leader at the First Baptist Church, Lexington. Ms. Davis has placed First in the NATS Competition, Second in Boston's Leontyne Price Vocal Arts Competition and was a finalist in Connecticut Opera Guild’s Competition. She has performed with companies such as Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Boston, the Boston Pops, Boston Opera Collaborative, Lowell House Opera, Opera Providence, Empire Opera, New York Lyric Opera, the Martha Cardona Theater and Manhattan Opera Studio. Some of her roles include Mimi (La Bohème) Desdemona (Otello), the title role in Suor Angelica, Liu (Turandot), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Nedda (Pagliacci), and Countess (Le nozze di Figaro). Melynda also sang as a Resident Artist with The Opera Company of Brooklyn. Melynda sang in the East Coast premiere of Mary Watkin’s American Opera Dark River with the Mount Holyoke Orchestra. In 2019, Melynda joined the Opera on Tap roster and currently serves on the Board.
