The Southeastern Massachusetts Festival Chorus announces plans to return with a 2021 Holiday Concert!
The Southeastern Massachusetts Festival Chorus will present a holiday concert titled “The Most Wonderful Time” on December 11 and 12, 2021 at the Taunton High School, 50 Williams Street, Taunton, MA. The 80+ fully-vaccinated members will perform a carefully curated collection of seasonal favorites including “Let it Snow”, “Merry Christmas, Darling”, “Winter Wonderland”, “Mistletoe and Holly”, “Mele Kalikimaka”, “Marshmallow World/Candy Man”, and much more!
Artistic Director Eric Brown says, “After a year and a half hiatus, I wanted to create a program that was fun to sing, and that the audience would embrace with much enthusiasm and nostalgia. The concert will feature some of the most whimsical arrangements the chorus has ever performed.” The performances will feature the usual dose of SMFC’s unique brand of choral performance and will be accompanied by a live, 14-piece orchestra.
SMFC Bronze, the newest addition to the SMFC franchise, will perform several handbell arrangements. Charlie Baird, Assistant Music Director and member of SMFC Bronze, says, “Our bell ringers add a distinctive sound to the production and there are so many ways to incorporate handbells into the program”.
Saturday’s concert will begin at 7pm and the matinee performance on Sunday afternoon is at 2pm. The concert format will be slightly abridged as a precaution to COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. All CDC, state, local, and public school COVID-19 guidelines will be followed regarding masking requirement.
