Each Future Song: A Holiday Concert showcases glorious music from the Renaissance through the present day, featuring gems such as Palestrina’s Tu es Petrus and Schütz’s Singet dem Herrn ein Neues Lied for double choir. The many-layered possibilities of choral singing are explored with Bruckner’s luscious Ave Maria, Ives’ grandly mysterious Sixty-Seventh Psalm (sung in two keys simultaneously), and Howard Hanson’s reverent A Prayer for the Middle Ages. A centerpiece of our holiday program, Oseh Shalom Bimromav, is a moving prayer for peace written by Michael Schachter, composer of last year’s musical theater sensation, The Black Clown. Join us as we sing carols of the season together, “in dulci jubilo” (“in sweet rejoicing”).
