Et incarnatus est: A prelude to Advent concert

Company:
Julia Nelson and Andrew Shenton

In celebration of St. Paul’s 2020 Stewardship Season Ingathering, soprano Julia Nelson and organist Andrew Shenton will present a concert entitled Et incarnatus est: a prelude to Advent on Sunday, November 22nd at 4:00 p.m. The concert will be broadcast live from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lynnfield, and all are cordially invited to attend via Zoom.

The concert falls on Christ the King Sunday, which in the liturgical calendar is the final Sunday of Ordinary Time, the last Sunday before Advent begins. The program will feature the works of 20th-century composers Benjamin Britten, Richard Shephard, Mary Plumstead, Arvo Pärt, and others, as well as several Baroque and Baroque-inspired works. Several of the featured texts, especially a selection of poems by Dorothy Parker, explore the theme of Mary and Jesus enjoying the ordinary everyday experiences of a new mother and her young child.

Admission is free and is available by registration only. In lieu of a ticket price, donations in any amount are gratefully accepted. All proceeds will be contributed to covering the costs of the upgraded audio-visual system that was recently installed in our sanctuary to enable virtual worship offerings.
