Celebrate the Autumnal Equinox with Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul and Mary fame) at the 16h annual Revels RiverSing, Saturday, September 21, at the Herter Park Amphitheater in Allston!
Lift your voice in song as Revels waves goodbye to summer and welcomes in the fall at the 16th annual Revels RiverSing at the Herter Park Amphitheater in Allston!
Hosted by Revels music director Megan Henderson, this free family event celebrating the change of seasons and the beauty of the Charles River parklands features nearly 100 performers including this year’s special guest, Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary fame. Additional participants include soloists David Coffin and Janice Allen-Brooks, The RiverSing Chorus, Revels Youth Alumni and Children’s Choruses, the Brazilian percussion ensemble Marcos Santos and aNova Brazil, The Boston City Singers, Pinewoods Morris Men - and YOU! Bring your best voices. Song sheets will be available on site so we can all sing along!
Stookey, who first performed in Revels RiverSing in 2013, explains his return. "Modern life tends to separate us from one another. Yet nowhere is the strength of diversity expressed more completely than when our voices come together in song. I am inspired by Revels' reminder of our commonality and delighted to celebrate again this year the gifts of nature and community at RiverSing."
TIMELINE: Family Activities in Herter Park begin at 5:00 pm followed by a puppet-filled “Parade to the Amp” at 5:45 pm that all can join! (Puppets provided by the Puppeteers Cooperative); Singing in the Amphitheater starts at 6:00 pm sharp.
Begun as a partnership with the Charles River Conservancy in 2004, Revels RiverSing is a participatory music event filled with music, magic and songs celebrating the season and the splendor of the Charles River and its parklands. While puppets and whimsy may abound, the heart of RiverSing is the communal singing and there will be lots of that!
Herter Park offers plenty of FREE PARKING, a pop-up beer garden, and a concession stand for food and drink.
Herter Park Amphitheater is located at 1175 Soldiers Field Road, Boston, MA, next to the Herter Community Garden. It is at the opposite end of the large parking lot from the Artesani Splash Park & Wading Pool.
Thanks to our Friends and Sponsors! Charles River Conservancy, Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR), Friends of Herter Park, Houghton Chemical Corporation, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
Revels RiverSing is a rain or shine event. In the event of unsettled or severe weather, Revels will post updates on this site and on our phone message (call 617-972-8300).
