Mad Songs: Dialogues and Trios

Soprano, Teresa Wakim will be featured in a program featuring the works of Eccles, Blow and Purcell. Ms. Wakim will be joined by a continuo section and a string trio led by Susanna Ogata. With rich texts and wild melodies, the English Baroque "mad song" was quite popular in the late 17th century, as it explored musical and psychological habits of the time. Our program will alternate a selection of mad songs and comic dialogues with the appealing and well-balanced string trios of William Boyce.
