VIRTUAL EVENT: Celebrating Black Composers

Company:
Pioneer Valley Symphony

Join us Martin Luther King Day weekend as we explore the works of often overlooked Black choral composers and their lasting impact on American music with Marques L. A. Garrett of University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Garrett has devoted much of his career to uncovering and promoting lesser-known works by Black composers, and has selected some of his favorites for this participatory presentation that includes interactive discussion and singalong. This event kicks off the Pioneer Valley Symphony’s five-part Discovery Series - Musical Mosaic: America’s Composers of Color. Tickets are $15 or purchase a Musical Mosaic series pass for $60 (a 20% savings!). Tickets and passes available at: pvsoc.org.

Celebrating Black Composers is sponsored by Greenfield Saving Bank and the guest speaker is presented by the PVS Long Island Youth Orchestra alumni.
