Leona Cheung

"Leona Cheung is a Boston-based Collaborative Pianist. She specializes in art songs, oratorio, opera, chamber music, and works closely with choirs, opera productions, orchestras, conductors and composers. As an active performer, Leona serves as Collaborative Pianist with the Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Children’s Chorus, MIT Women's Chorale. And serves as Staff Pianist at the New England Conservatory and Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

Leona’s international performances have been hailed as artistically mature, well thought-out presentations. She has performed at the Oxford Lieder Festival, Leeds Lieder Festival, Toronto Summer Music Festival, Franz Schubert Institut, and Songfest, where she worked with many esteemed artists and scholars across the United States and Europe.

Leona is respected for her musical leadership from the piano and her responsiveness to conductors’ instructions. She has collaborated with Helmuth Rilling and Hong Kong SingFest in multiple choral-orchestral projects. She also joined as Collaborative Piano Fellow in the Professional Choral Institute at the Aspen Music Festival, where she worked closely with GRAMMY® nominated vocal ensemble Seraphic Fire and Artistic Director Patrick Dupré Quigley.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, she earned the Master of Music and Graduate Diploma in Collaborative Piano from New England Conservatory, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Hong Kong Baptist University.
