COVID-19 Emergency Relief
Please note that as of April 1, applications are no longer being accepted for this program. We plan to provide further support to singers in need later this month. Please see our resources page for other relief programs that may be helpful.
As of March 11, 2020, the Boston Singers' Relief Fund is offering a streamlined application process for grants up to $500. New England-based singers whose classical performances were cancelled due to concerns over COVID-19 are eligible to apply. Deadline for the first round of grants is April 1; grant amounts, deadlines and eligibility may be altered as circumstances change. Available funds are limited.
To apply, please fill out the application form and return it with:
- Proof of contract or employment agreement for a classical singing performance.
- Proof of cancellation
- Proof of residency
- Your artistic resume
Incomplete applications will not be considered. Email all documents and any questions to email@example.com
Boston Singers' Relief Fund General Application
Description of Need
If you are facing a situation where you might have to sacrifice paying a bill(s) or borrow money due to the loss of singing wages, you are probably eligible for BSRF funds. The application is easy and strictly confidential. Examples of need: Do you have to go to your other jobs to ask for more work to compensate for loss of singing wages? Are you incurring more credit card debt to pay monthly living expenses? Were you recently sick and lost singing work? Have you incurred medical bills seeing an ENT? Do you need BSRF help to pay living expenses so that you can keep practicing and soliciting singing work? We want to help you continue singing, if we can. Our goal is to keep the voices of New England strong!
To be eligible for BSRF funds, you must be a professional New England singer earning at least 15% of your income through singing. You must be a resident of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts or Rhode Island (although non-resident singers will be considered if they earn a significant amount of their income from organizations within New England.) You do not need to be a member of Boston Singers' Resource to be eligible for BSRF funds.
BSRF funds are to be used for basic living expenses and human needs, only; funds are not to be used for headshots, promotional materials, recordings, travel expenses or other costs related to career promotion. Every effort will be made to accommodate your financial situation, but the amount of each allowance is dependent upon available funds and number of applicants per year. Grants currently range between $100-$900 depending on need and availability of funds. We hope to increase these amounts as the BSRF principal amount grows.
