Bonnie Pomfret

Bonnie Pomfret, soprano, has sung music from the 12th to 21st centuries in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Her solo compact disc, De Toda la Eternidad, (ACA Digital) with a title song cycle written especially for Pomfret by Libby Larsen, was released to critical acclaim. Pomfret has sung with various orchestras and opera companies around the United States, and in chamber music and as a recitalist around the world.
Pomfret holds the DM from Indiana University, where she studied with Virginia Zeani; an MM from Boston Conservatory, where she was a student of David Blair McClosky; and bachelor’s (SMP) in Voice and Piano from the Musikhochschule Freiburg, Germany. She was a Rotary Ambassadorial Fellow in Germany and received the National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship to study the early staging of Wagner’s operas in Bayreuth.
Dr. Pomfret is a Certified McClosky Voice Technician and Master Teacher (CMVT-MT). She has served as Singing Voice Specialist at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (1980-81), Peoria ENT Group (1989-97), and Emory Voice Center (2004-6) and has presented at the Voice Foundation annual symposia and ASHA conventions.
Dr. Pomfret taught voice, vocal pedagogy, and directed operas on the faculties of Boston University, Illinois State University, and Emory University.
