Soprano Ellen Allen is a singer, voice teacher, and coach based north of Boston. She specializes in working with dedicated high school, pre-professional, and adult avocational singers, teaching both classical and musical theater styles. Whether you want to ace your next audition, reach those high notes in choir more easily, work toward college or conservatory auditions, or simply re-connect with your voice after a long time away from singing, Ellen's boutique studio may be just the place for you! Ellen will create a custom lesson package and studio experience for you, uniquely tailored to your needs and goals. Over the past decade, Ellen's students have been winners and finalists in local and regional competitions, landed roles in their school and community productions, and earned acceptance to top-level conservatories.
Ellen also offers dramatic coaching sessions, where she guides students through a musically holistic interpretive approach to get their pieces from page to stage and give a show-stopping performance. Perfect for students who are prepping for musical theater or classical auditions, these sessions can be booked independently of voice lessons.
Ellen is also a certified holistic wellness coach, and offers wellness coaching programs for singers, specializing in nutrition, immune support, and stress management. Learning to think about your voice holistically takes the phrase "your body is your instrument" to a whole new level!
In addition to over a decade of teaching experience, Ellen holds a Master of Music in Voice and a Teaching Artist Certificate from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, summa cum laude, from Gordon College. She is member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and the Speakeasy Cooperative (SECO), and is also the co-founder and music director of Rising Stars Productions, a music and theater education company for youth based in Reading, MA.
As a performer, Ellen specializes in concert, oratorio, and choral singing. She has appeared as a soloist and chorister with many Boston-area ensembles, including Triad: Boston's Choral Collective, the MetroWest Choral Artists, Calliope, the MIT Women's Chorale, the Harvard Early Music Society, and the Freisinger Chamber Orchestra. She currently sings with Triad: Boston's Choral Collective.
