Joshua Dixon

Joshua Dixon, baritone, is a graduate of Boston University, where he received his Master of Music in Voice Performance. For the 2019-2020 season, Joshua performed operatic selections for VOX New England's Opera Gala, debuted with MassOpera in their workshop premiere of Dan Shore's Freedom Ride, and debuted with Greater Worcester Opera as Mr. Lindquist (A Little Night Music). In summer 2021, Joshua performed operatic and musical theatre selections on NEMPAC's Opera from the Balcony @Tresca series, and is currently pursuing a Graduate Performance Diploma in Vocal Studies at Longy School of Music at Bard College as an Access for Equity Scholar. Joshua recently performed selections by Mendelssohn's Elijah, Fauré's Requiem, and Vaughan Williams' Five Mystical Songs with Longy's Orchestra FLEX and was the Vocal Director of The Longwood Players' production of Sweeney Todd in November 2021. Future engagements include Pablo Picasso (Cipullo's After Life) at Longy School of Music at Bard College, and faculty recitals at Saint Anselm College.

For 2018-2019 season, he returned to Worcester Schubertiade (now VOX New England) as Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus) and with Opera 51 in Concord, Massachusetts as Morales (Carmen) and debuted with NEMPAC Opera Project as The Geographer in Rachel Portman’s The Little Prince. Joshua recently performed Count Danilo (The Merry Widow) with Worcester Schubertiade and Valentin (Faust) with Opera 51. He also debuted as a soloist with Choral Art Society of the South Shore in Schubert’s Magnificat and Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore. At Boston University, he appeared as Figaro in BU Opera Institute’s Nozze Pilot Project and as Mercutio (Roméo et Juliette), Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), and Grimbald (King Arthur) in scenes and concert performances, as well as appearing in the ensemble for BU Opera Institute’s mainstage performances of Emmeline and Le nozze di Figaro. Previous credits also include Raoul de St. Brioche (The Merry Widow), Dr. Gregg (Gallantry), Sid (Albert Herring), El Remendado (Carmen) with Otterbein University, Agamemnon (La belle Hélène) with the Franco-American Vocal Academy in France, and Ensemble (Madama Butterfly) with Opera Columbus. Joshua is also a frequent recitalist, having performed in Westerville & Zanesville (Ohio), Boston (Massachusetts), Thiviers, Lanouaille, Périgueux, Génis, & Paris (France).

Joshua is currently a voice teacher in Boston, MA, where he maintains a private voice studio, and is a Lecturer in Music at Saint Anselm College. His students have been accepted to voice performance, musical theatre, and acting programs at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Berklee College of Music, Capital University, Carnegie Mellon University PreCollege Drama Program, Emerson College, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, NYU Steinhardt, Otterbein University, Pennsylvania State University, Salem State University, University of Michigan, Uta Hagen Acting Studio, and Wright State University. Former and current students have also performed with Arts Council of Westerville, Cain Park Theatre, Cedar Point, Columbus Children’s Theatre, Kings Island, New Albany Arts Council, Ohio Educational Theatre Association, PigPen Theatre Co., The Renaissance Theatre, Riverside Theatre Works, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella Broadway National Tour, Short North Stage, Umbrella Community Arts Center, Vanilla Box Productions, Victoria Theatre Association, Wagnalls Community Theatre, Westerville Parks & Recreation Civic Theatre, Weston Friendly Society, and The Wilbury Theatre Group. Joshua has previously held posts at Amy Dancz Music Studio in Boston, MA, The Lex Center for Performing Arts in Sunbury, OH, Olentangy High School in Lewis Center, OH, and was a guest clinician on contemporary vocal technique at Middlesex Community College.

He has also worked as an arts administrator with Boston University Tanglewood Institute as a graduate office assistant, Administrative Office Manager, and Admissions Coordinator and has held section leader positions at New Albany Presbyterian Church, Saint Joseph Cathedral, and First Parish in Brookline.
