Delirium: Mad songs of English composers

Company:
Amanda Forsythe, Christian Immler & Friends

Join two of BEMF’s favorite vocalists, soprano Amanda Forsythe and baritone Christian Immler, as they perform deeply passionate songs exploring themes of madness and despair. The genre of the mad song flourished in Restoration England, as the public shrugged off the repressions of puritanical rule and reveled in art that explored the entire spectrum of human emotion. Accompanied by an all-star group featuring BEMF’s Grammy-winning Artistic Directors Paul O’Dette and Stephen Stubbs, these operatic dynamos explore the torments of human frailty, with selections from Eccles, Danyel, and Purcell, including pieces from the latter’s Don Quixote.
