"I Will Be Earth: The Poetry of Nature"
A Choral Concert & Poetry Reading
presented by
Cantilena Women's Chorus
Elinor A. Armsby, artistic director
Allyson Cahill, collaborative pianist

Cantilena invites the community to come explore the natural world and the role that it plays in our lives as reflected in poetry and song. This unique program pairs the two art forms by interweaving a selection of readings with choral settings of poems. Our guest artist, Arlington’s Poet Laureate Jean Flanagan, has chosen the works of several local poets to complement Artistic Director Elinor A. Armsby’s musical selection. The program includes songs by Gwyneth Walker, Roger Bourland, Susan LaBarr, and Randall Thompson; set to poems such as ‘Bird’ by Francisco X. Alarcón; ‘This is the Garden’ by e. e. cummings; ‘Cocoons’ by Emily Dickinson; ‘A Girl's Garden’ by Robert Frost; ‘In Autumn’ by May Swenson; and ‘Dew’ by Sara Teasdale.
Meet Jean Flanagan and other local poets at a reception that follows the concert.

The concert program booklet will be posted in advance at https://www.cantilena.org/concerts.
