Join Opera Theater of Cape Cod for two performances of La Bohème, the timeless Giacomo Puccini classic, sung by some of the brightest rising opera performers in the New England area. The opera follows a group of struggling artists as they navigate making ends meet, friendship, love, and loss. La Bohème is one of the most frequently performed operas worldwide, and the music is treasured by opera fans. The narrative of the opera is so universal that the musical "Rent" used La Bohème as its inspiration.
Opera Theater of Cape Cod is bringing this story to life using the English National Opera's translation of the piece, so that audience members who are new to opera can understand and enjoy the piece in a more accessible way. Our staging takes the story into the present day, and innovative venue at Tilden Arts Center at Cape Cod Community College allows us to immerse fully the audience in the music and the drama.
The show will run for about 120 minutes and does have an intermission.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Wellfleet, Eastham, Chatham, Brewster, Truro, and Orleans cultural councils, local agencies which are supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
