There shall be no more Sea: Tiny Glass Tavern at the Swedenborg Chapel in Cambridge
Tiny Glass Tavern
There Shall Be No More Sea
Saturday May 20th 2023 at 3pm, Swedenborg Chapel, Cambridge MA
With
Sophie Michaux (voice)
Kai-Ching Chang (piano)
Adam Simon (voice+guitar+bass)
Chris Voss (voice+narration)
Kathleen Raine's poem "There Shall Be No More Sea" was the inspiration for this Tiny Glass Tavern program, centered around the awe the Ocean provokes in us, humans. Its power and mystery have sparked wonder, fear, imagination, admiration, and grief in poets and musicians all over the world and throughout the centuries. We will explore these emotions while sharing music by Antonio Vivaldi, Rebecca Clarke, Cecil Cohen, Gabriel Fauré, Henry Purcell, Adam Simon, Jacques Brel, Folk songs from England and more. Short stories and poems will be woven into the music by our narrator Chris Voss, and audience members should be prepared to join in on a sea shanty or two.
